An excellent book, with a great balance of photos and copy. Some books of this type are either all theory and limited photos and some are just pure coffee-table items for browsing. There is much well-written copy about the history of the furniture and decorating styles for those that want to get into detail. There are also plenty of high-quality very detailed and well-composed photos to complement the scholarly writing as well. There is also a lot of detail about the people of the period; the various royals and furniture makers too. I really enjoyed this book and consider it a great reference book. If you like books about Empire furniture and Neoclassic decoration and style I highly recommend this work.
