I read the downloaded book in one day, something I rarely do. Easy, entertaining, and edifying. I especially recommend giving this book to young people living the "life".Those who do not have eyes to see and ears to hear may dismiss such a fantastic testimony, especially certain coincidences like seeing his sister in church the very day he just happens to have the exact amount of money he once stole from her. I, on the other hand, am no stranger to such events and co-incidences.Though I am older than the author and grew up north of NYC, his depiction of that era is, sadly, accurate. I recall buying weed in Manhattan, heroin and coke through holes in the walls in Queens and Brooklyn, or scoring some "Crazy Eddie" angel dust in the Bronx. But of course God's sovereign grace prevails. Despite my knowing, blasphemous resentment of his intervention, the Hound of Heaven always acquires his prey.Blessings upon you, Dimas Salaberrios, my brother.

Hello, I just finished reading Street God and it had me spell bound. Pastor Salaberrios argument that he was truly converted with a gun held to his head resonated with me. In fact, throughout the book, it was very evident that he was chosen and protected by God through some extremely dangerous and trying circumstances. The main reason I was so impressed with this story is that I could tell that Pastor Salaberrios belief is true, strong, and real and he has not and will not allow his walk with the Lord to be tarnished. He is for real! He has a walk with the Lord that is unsurpassed and it is evident on every page of this book. His faith and trust in adhering to the Word of the Lord is unsurpassed, Once Pastor Salaberrios decided to truly accept the Lord as his Savior, he has walked the walk and talked the talk without any compromise. Street God depicts a young man who is a natural born leader and as such, it appears that every situation Pastor Salaberrios encountered, his leadership ability were exposed and acted on. The blessings of his natural gift to lead and his charisma, has placed him in a position to lead young man out of the path of Satan and into the path of the marvelous light of Jesus. Why? Young men and women on the streets can personally identify with him because he was once in their shoes, so they see that he is genuine and a man who practices what he preaches. To me, the intended audience for this book is anyone who wants to know and accept the Lord Jesus as their Savior. But to the young men and women on the streets, in prison and just looking for a place to turn to get on the right path. This book is for you!

i was watching T.B.N. a.k.a. 'the god channel' here in so. cal. and i saw/heard this guy who is 'really fired up' for god and i heard just 'some' of his story of drug addiction and the craziness of it all. i have 26 yrs. clean and sober myself so i was interested to read his journey, enough for me to come here and order his book. i rarely buy a book but i love to read and get all of my books at the library. for me, it started out a 'little' slow or so i thought until i realized, i'm reading a true story, not a james patterson (my favorite author) where every page is exciting so i just read the story of this ONE MAN and realized throughout everything he went through, god was with him and 'had a plan' for his life. there are some powerful messages, two at least that i took away from this book. it's a good read, especially for anyone who's 'been there' and wants inspiration.

What a wonderful representation of what God can do through a life fully dedicated to truth, honesty and goodness. The miraculous turnaround in the life of Dimas inspires the idea of a personal creator mindful of the daily lives of his creation.How much can one person be used when he is seeking riotousness and willing to do whatever he is inspired to do in the name of the collective good? How many lives can be transformed and inspired by one man loving the fatherless in a way that our Heavenly Father intended them to be loved?Dimas’s transformation is something to behold, but his visits to prisons and kind, consistent presence in a neighborhood forgotten and neglected by society is what brought me to tears, with the thought, “More of this, Please!”May God continue to use Paster Salaberrios to raise up young men ready to become fathers and leaders to their generation!

I am so encouraged by this book to simply allow God to have His way in me. This has inspired me to pray even more specific of what He would have me to do and to change my desires to His desires. As I read this book you reminded me of a teenage boy who I worked with at the Charter school I am placed at. I am purchasing the hard copy of this book and I am going to mail it to him as he is away at a "boot camp challenge program," here in NJ. I pray you continue to allow the Lord to use you for His glory. Even as He is promoted you I pray you are still able to reach those who are lost sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ!

I am not an avid reader. So that I’m saying: “I can’t put this book down” it is a must read if you’re “really” interested in knowing that God is real and how God works his purpose in and through our lives. OMGosh!! The intricate details of the underworld are explained in vivid detail. I mean Pastor Dimas makes you feel like you are experiencing the life yourself! I lived in Washington, DC during the height of the crack and cocaine epidemic and heard about young black men’s lives being cut down every day. Now I know the “behind the scenes” causes of those lost lives. Thank you DS.

Love love LOVE this book. I read it when I was in a not so good place. It gave me the strength that I needed to get through. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for direction. Someone who doesn’t think that God cares for them or thinks that they have gone too far from God.

I am reading the nebula award winning novels in chronological order. This is the winner for 2013.Initially I didn't realize that I had already read this book. When I remembered, I thought it would be worth a second read. Now I'm not so sure. I did finish reading it the second time, but I kind of wish I hadn't.The story takes place in the year 2312 when humanity is busily populating the solar system while Earth itself sinks ever further into the swamp of pollution and overpopulation that we are experiencing today. There are three or four main characters, depending on how you look at it. Actually, you could say there are 0 main characters because the author seems to feel character development is overrated.What's good.The book is heavy on science and technologies that can be used in various ways to allow humans to freely and expediently travel the solar system. Some of these are quite innovative, or seemed so to me. Okay, that's pretty much it on the good side, but that is actually quite a lot. Enough to make it worth reading once, but not twice.The rest.As I already mentioned, character development is not the author's strong point. The dialog is especially terrible. There is no way any of it sounds like real people. And all of the characters sound identical. And the narrator, too, not surprisingly. One really annoying aspect of this--and it could just be me--is the use of the word "so." It starts many, many sentences and sometimes weasels itself in mid-sentence as if discontent at being always in the lead. Of course, the narrator's voice would not want to miss out on this delightful little word.Why do humans have to spend one in every seven years back on Earth itself? No simulation will do, it's got to be Earth. The author says that no one knows why this is, but that falls flat to me. A big deal is made of how oppressive 1 G is to "spacers." They have to wear a body brace to deal with it during their Earth sabbaticals. But their interplanetary travel takes place on terraria that are maintained at 1 G and this doesn't seem to bother anyone.In this future, human sexuality has broadened to the point of ridiculousness. It seems that heterosexuality doesn't even exist anymore. Most people seem to have both sets of functional reproductive organs. That's a bit hard to believe. Can human anatomy be redesigned to accommodate this physiology. I think the author is trying to present a more sexually open world but he should probably look into his biological facts as closely as he does his physical ones.There's also a really major flaw concerning ecology that I don't want to discuss due to spoilers.I would recommend this book if you're interested in technology but not if you're interested in characters or social issues.

Many of the reviews here are pretty spot on:1) Gorgeous world building....The description of the world's, their cultures, their creation are all gorgeous and a real spark for the imagination. I can see these places in my mind's eye, and would love to travel to them.2)...but terrible charactersI'm 150+ pages in, and I could give a rip about any of the characters. Swan comes across as psychotic, fickle, and aimless. Her companions are uninteresting; bland and without internal motivation. I honestly am hoping someone falls in a volcano on Io at this point just to spice things up.3) Needed: EditingI love a good existential thought piece moment in sci-fi (God Emperor of Dune, anyone?) But this is just painful. Why do we have to take a half dozen pages to describe a concert? A chapter on lawn bowling? The 'lists' sections are hit or miss: some fill in context for the world building, but most are just headache inducing lists of mental illnesses, biomes, existential...stuff.I appreciate the trick of not describing a character in detail, but it wasn't until 100+ pages in was the main character described, which was jarring to what I'd constructed in my mind. Swan came across as a petulant 20 year old, so I was shocked when I learned she was 134..And the vocabulary. Dear God, it's almost purple prose. I consider myself a smart reader, but I had to give up on Googling some of the words. And if I read "goldsworthies" or "balkanization" one more time...4) Plot? Conflict? *Jingles keys*The plot is completely lost, if there even is one. It's completely unclear if there's any conflict or dilemma to solve, and if it is, the characters seem wholly unconcerned with solving it. Swan seems content to have feral mental episodes each time her companions say the equivalent of "if I told you, I'd have to kill you." We take a time out to smuggle out a street rat/would-be-kidnapper, apparently on a lark before resuming an aimless trip around the Solar System...and the whole time I'm wondering if I accidentally picked up the second book in a trilogy because I'm lost and starting to hate the characters and at this point just reading it for the space descriptions.*Sigh* I think this is a 'leave this in the airport terminal and see if someone else likes it' read...

Dr. Zekavat has served as the Editor of many Journals including IET Wireless Sensor Systems, IET Communications, and Springer Int. Journal on Wireless Information Networks. He has also served on the Executive Committee of many IEEE Conferences such as PIMRC, WiSEE, SPAWC, and ISMICT. R. MICHAEL BUEHRER is a Professor in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech and the director of Wireless @ Virginia Tech. I've been following Candice's Edgy Veg YouTube channel since I first became vegan about four-and-a-half years ago, and just love all of her videos and recipes! I pre-ordered this cookbook a few months ago, and am so happy I did. Although it just showed up today, I've made three of the recipes so far, and all three were easy and, best of all, delicious. The Edgy Veg specializes in converting comfort food into vegan staples, and this cookbook captures a great combination of staples with creative twists and of entire new flavor combos that I haven't seen elsewhere.Since Amazon doesn't yet have the "Look Inside" feature available for this book, I'm posting two photos: one of the main page for a sub-section and one that shows what the full-page photos look like. Pretty much all of the recipes also use ingredients that you can find at most mainstream grocery stores; if you live in a larger town, you won't have to make a trip to a specialty store.The step-by-step instructions are clearly broken down, and the ingredient lists include metric and imperial measurements. Any special supplies (such as ramekins, a food processor, or a blender) that you'll need for each recipe is also highlighted in a yellow box at the top of the ingredients list. Most of the recipes also contain beautiful full-page color photos, which I love in cookbooks since color photos of the recipes always inspire me.Other fun additions to this cookbook are the "Hack It!" tips that provide quick suggestions for how to change up the recipe a bit if you've made it a lot, as well as video icons that link you back to their YouTube channel for more fun ideas.Today I was short on time, but was easily able to make the It Takes Two to Mango Salad, the Death by Chocolate Mousse (which was especially amazing!), and the Brussels Sprouts that Don't Suck (which was just a basic roasted Brussels sprouts recipe). Each one came together really quickly, and the flavors were really delicious. This new cookbook keep me busy (and well-fed!) for awhile!Bon appetit!

Wow! Just... wow! The first recipe we made was the half baked mac and cheese and it was amazing!! I actually had to fight for my portion of the meal and I am the only vegan in the house. Even my 7 year old, who is extremely picky, couldn't get enough. She even asked when I was going to make it again while we were still eating it, which never happens. Hands down, this is a life changing edition to my extensive vegan library.

I have made a few things so far. The seitan was pretty good and very easy. I see myself going back to that as a protein base instead of so much tofu. The chocolate chip cookie pie I made into cookies, they were soft and tasty. Even better the next day. The token kale salad is yummy. A lot of the recipes are junk food like. That is good for when the mood strikes but not for everyday in my house. She is super cute and I enjoy looking through this book. I gave it 4 stars not 5 because it will not be a go to for me. I will keep it and enjoy it:)

I had this for over a month now and have not made anything out of it yet. But, the pictures are beautiful, there’s also pics of every recipe. It’s definitly not for healthy vegan eaters. There’s a lot of deep fried food. But it all looks mouthwatering!

Most vegan cookbooks don’t have resources for people who want to learn about the ethical consideration of veganism. I first discovered Edgy Veg through her YouTube. I was missing comfort foods.Thank you, Candice, for making such a high quality and relatable cookbook. This book is contributing to the cultural shift vegans need. Most people have the misconception that being vegan is eating salad and fruit only every day. I appreciate you breaking the stereotype.I know the description indicates the book is hardcover, but I had pre-ordered a while back and was delighted with the presentation. I’ll be posting pictures once I get some recipes going.

I've been watching The Edgy Veg on YouTube for quite sometime and I love her humor and ability to make recipes that are achievable for the regular home cook that are super tasty and familiar. I'm all for healthy eating, but sometimes you want to have a snack a thon and Netflix & chill ya know? I want to be able to experience dishes I grew up with and have enjoyed my entire life while being cruelty free. This cookbook has unlocked the secrets to that!I have been vegetarian off and on for over three years and have finally been transitioning to being 100% vegan and this cookbook is perfect for lasting success! My husband is eating primarily plant based too and these are the kinds of recipes he will love - he was a big "meat and potatoes, burgers and fries, pizza" guy lol. It has the kind of food in it that will be awesome to make and share with my nonveg family and friends.Not only does she include vital information for newbies and easy to replicate recipes, but also gives recommendations for products when you are short on time and need to take some help from the store. Also, she uses ingredients that can be found without having to go on an international treasure hunt!I think there is something for everyone in this book no matter where you are on your vegan journey or even if you are just looking to incorporate more meat and dairy free meals into your diet.You can see the thought and effort that Candice and her husband have put into the production of this book. It's packed full of great information, delicious recipes, beautiful photos (so great that there are photos of the food - thank you for that!!) and anecdotes.This cookbook is going on my kitchen counter because I know I will be referring to it that often! Congratulations on a job well done The Edgy Veg! I will definitely recommend this as a must have and can't wait for a second book from them!
