Mari J. Wirfs, PhD, MN, APRN, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, CNE, is a nationally certified adult nurse practitioner (ANCC) and family nurse practitioner (AANP). She has over 45 years of experience in collegiate undergraduate and graduate nursing education and clinical practice in critical care, pediatrics, psychiatric-mental health nursing, and 25 years experience in advanced practice primary care nursing. Her PhD is in Higher Education Administration and Leadership. During her career Dr. Wirfs has achieved the academic rank of professor with tenure in two university systems. She served eight years in the Army Nurse Corps. Dr. Wirfs has completed, published, and presented six quantitative research studies focusing on nursing education and clinical practice, including one for the Army Medical Department. Presently, she is Adjunct Professor and Clinical Director and sole advanced practice (APRN) primary care provider at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Family Health Care Clinic. Dr. Wirfs also is a frequent guest lecturer to both professional APRN groups and community groups and a long-time member of the National Organization for Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF). As a FNP student I find this very helpful. The charts in the back of the book are also great to reference and very handy. This was not a required book for my courses but I am very happy I purchased and would recommend for clinicals for any NP student or practicing provider.

I have the book in the desk by my loveseat and the best information about the medications prescribed and treatment that they are prescribed for and the adverse effects that some people can experience! All people with medical conditions should have this information on hand !

Easy to use, current information, organized by diagnoses is useful in clinical practice.

Detailed and concise. I am just starting my practice and it has been very helpful already. Would definitely recommend.

The story takes place far into the future of humanity on a planet far, far away. The lead character, Salryc Luxx has 3 lovers who were her teachers and are now her protectors. There is a great war brewing and Sal has been chosen by fate to lead her people, known as the Iliri, to win this war for the side of good.This series, which must be read in order. I just discovered this author a month and a half ago. The third book in this series was offered for free on Amazon. Then a few weeks later the first three books were offered for free. Today as of this posting books 4-6 are being offered for free on Amazon. I did not know they would be free. I paid for them as well as the 7th book. I do NOT regret it. I love this series! Now I have to wait with the rest of the world for the next one. This series offers everything in all of the genres that I love. The books are reasonably lengthy between 350 and 400 pages. (I like big books.) The bedroom scenes do not overpower the plot but are used sparingly to add a little spice. This book kept showing up in my recommendations from Amazon. I was kind of judging the book by the cover which is very ironic since this series is all about not judging people by the way they look. I read a few reviews and became intrigued. I HIGHLY recommend this series. It is so well written. If you like kick-ass heroines and alpha but submissive men, dystopian, sci-fi, paranormal erotica and books of epic length then this series is for you. I'm going to be sad when this series ends.

Rise of the Iliri box set 4-6 contains three books of the Ililri series:Inseparable (4), Nice plot twists and fast-pacing keep readers glued to the page (metaphorically speaking, for us eBook readers). The complexity builds in this installment, and new members are added to the Iliri family. Edge of me seat!Tenacity (5), Tension, high drama, and heartbreak as the Anglian troops close in closer to Terric and the Emperor. This may be the most pivotal book of the series to date--I saw a lot of the sub-plots building in previous books, but I was still shocked and saddened when the inevitable happened. Intense action and plenty of story progression in this installment.Resilience (6) It seemed to take an awful long time to get to this point, which is the down-side to such a long, detailed saga, but Hadley has done such a wonderful job with character development, gaining the reader's investment in each character and their stories, that you are left thinking about the read for days afterward. Each book is a complete book with a slight cliffhanger to set up the next book. The novels are a good length, and leave readers satisfied with the cut-off point. The Iliri series is highly recommended for a layered, RH read.

I read books 1-8 in quick succession so am giving a review on the series, to date.The world building is excellent. Humans colonize a distant world, low on metals and with indigenous life. Thousands of years later, the resulting society is one of basically medieval tech, but with ceramics and resin replacing metals. Very clever extrapolation and made more interesting with the integration of the indigenous life.The series is both a Sci-Fi/Paranormal-esque epic adventure and a romance. The heat level of the romance rises throughout the series, not hitting 'erotic' levels until about Book 7 and starting relatively low, though all well written at the heat levels they're at. I mention this because this switch/transition may surprise some readers. At times, the balance between the epic adventure and the romance is off a bit, throwing off the pacing of the overall story, but not so much as to want you to stop reading - it remains engaging throughout.The plot, and plot twists, of the epic adventure are well done, creating a well-crafted story that could stand alone, even without the romance. There are some quibbles around how the military is organized, specifically around unit sizes and organization, but unless you have a background in the area or read a lot of military fantasy/historicals you probably won't notice. The fight scenes are well done, even if all in the contexts of small skirmishes.Overall, I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. It's based in a wonderfully crafted world and includes some amazing elements. It's only some nits about how these elements are put together that keeps this from getting 5 stars.

Way to much romantic dialog for me,keep repeating same thing about relationships to just fill word count,might be great for some but not for me,didn't need to be reminded why characters felt about each other over and over again,got old and in the way of story,seems author had enough story line to make three books but spread out to six and seven,will not be getting seventh

It took me a long time to jump on the ROTI bandwagon. I have really enjoyed Auryn's other series (Wolf of Oberhame and The Demon's Muse) so I knew her style hit just the right balance of wit and heart. My hesitation was because epic sci-fi romance sounded exhausting.That was dumb.This story is captivating; eat takeout for a week, hide out with your Kindle at every possible moment, ignore your friends kind of story.Tell your friends and s/o's to read it and share the obsession.This story is an epic romance. We have hero's and villains and heartbreak and adventure and love of every kind.Aside from adult language, this series is one I wouldn't have a problem recommending to anyone from late teens or older. Violence is described in more detail than sex, but nothing is overdone.You need to read this.

I own the book, but haven't read it (yet). In lieu of reading the book, I bought the audio CD. It took a good month to get to me since it shipped from the UK. That doesn't affect its rating - I'm just saying. To my surprise, the CD is only 2 audio discs in length. It says it's abridged, but it leaves me wondering HOW abridged or if the book book is truly that short? I don't know. The product is fine; the CDs played. The story was fun and funny but was a little all over the place for my liking. The humor was good, dry, accessible. Some of the stories were interesting. I didn't really care for the pilgrimage tale, and it seemed to take up a lot of play time that I think could have been better spent on anything else. A friend of mine recommended this book to me before my wife and I's trip to Ireland. I didn't have time to read it, and I got this audio version more than a year after having gone there. Entertaining? Yes. Would I recommend it to someone who loves Ireland? Yes. Would I recommend it to someone who's never been in a preparatory capacity? Nah.

It's a little embarrassing to be reading a book in a public place & guffaw aloud. It attracts attention but no matter, this book is simply too funny to allow yourself to care what others think. My husband & I enjoyed this book tremendously & decided to go to McCarthy's Bar in Castletown-Berehaven on our recent trip to Ireland. It's actually Maccarthy's Bar & looks exactly the same outside. We met Adrienne Maccarthy 4th generation owner, who is mentioned in the Acknowledgements section of Pete's book. She noted that my son & I said we were home when we saw the Kerry Red Stag Family Crest on the wall. We talked to Adrienne for an hour or so & when it came time to move on she refused to allow us to pay because we're family & said let's go outside for photos. The pooch on the cover is her recently deceased dog, Bailey. She said Pete was a great guy & stayed in touch often. We were so glad that the way Pete described the town, the people & the other areas in the book are exactly the same now as it was when he originally wrote the book back some 10+ years ago. If you enjoy English & Irish humor, you will enjoy this book....just be prepared for people to "give you the look" when you find yourself unable to surpress the laughter that's bubbling out of you.

A wonderful book with a cover photo of a Nun and her glass of Guinness and it gets better. Learn about the history, the travelers, all sorts of stuff you won't read about in other travel books. It isn't really a travel book wither,,, just a really fine collection of stories about today's Ireland and the great things going on. Enjoy!

I think if you have never been to Ireland, this book would turn you off. Some good stories with the twists and turns of the Irish. Drags along in places.

I love travel books. I have loved them with a perfectly idiotic passion ever since I was a kid in Seldovia and read The Royal Road to Romance by Richard Halliburton and with him climbed the Matterhorn and worked on a tramp steamer through the Suez Canal and battled cobras in India and was boarded by pirates in the South China Sea. After that I was incapable of walking out to Linder's Beach and looking at the way Cook Inlet fell off into the Gulf of Alaska without wondering where else I could get to if I set sail for the horizon.Richard Halliburton taught me that the best travel books are written by someone you wish had waited for you to come with. An Englishman of Irish descent, Pete McCarthy descends upon the island of Ireland with Rules of Travel, such as the eighth rule, Never Pass a Bar That Has Your Name On It. He never does, and in between never passing those bars among other things he climbs Croagh Patrick and goes on a medival purgatory, I think mostly so we don't have to. If you never wanted to go to Ireland, don't read this book because there will be no stopping you once you have.

This is one of the funniest and most entertaining books I have read. I have bought copies for more than a dozen of my friends who visited Ireland or intend to or claim the nationality. Pete McCarthy comes through a lovely man and a clever observer of human behavior with an abundant ability to see the fun in people and to join in their enjoyment himself. I wish I could have met him in a McCarthy's bar somewhere but alas he passed much too young. If you are one of Ireland's potential visitors, this book will speed up your plans. I love the clear, coordinated accounts, the contrast with info included in the Warren Commission and, of course, the confirmation of my own belief, held since I was 10 years old at the time of the assassination, that the "kill shot" came from the grassy knoll. Until 9/11, this terrible event was a touchstone of my life: spectacular dreams dashed, the trajectory of our country's progress altered forever, the horrific, public death of a man who never deserved it. Marrs does an incredible job of telling this story. It reminds me that, however, tedious it will be, I want to read the Warren Report one day.

Jim Marrs's Crossfire is an important read for anyone that has read any of number of other sources on the subject.It covers all of the info previous investigators have uncovered and it includes a number of eyewitness accounts frompeople present on the day of the crime.The layout of the book walks the reader through the setup of the crime, the crime scene and what happened afterwards.It also includes a number of eye witness accounts that sink any belief in the single shooter/3 bullet theory that thegovernment had put forward as THE explanation. He also points out a major problem with the tree. A large tree actuallypartially blocked the 6th story view such that only 2 shots could have been made from the School Book Repositorybuilding (not 3 continuous shots). His accounting also places 4 to 5 shooters at the crime scene, not one and upto nine shots fired from different guns - that is one of the reasons for the book's title.Jim as a long term reporter/journalist in Texas has a well developed sense of detail on all of the majorplayers and what they had been doing before, during and after the crime. He tries to give as best an explanation for eachof the problems related to the government's official response he examines. He lets thereader make up their own opinion.

This book sets a professional standard for understanding the Kennedy assassination. The book is long but detailed, with every piece of vital information properly footnoted and referenced in an excellent index. Already familiar with much information about the JFK event, this book gives a very in-depth look into why it occurred, as well as the principal players, and those who attempted to cover-up the vital evidence for many years. Johnson, the author also thankfully narrows in on J. Edgar Hoover, whose ability “to gather information and then to control it” give him enormous power. This along with his suspect dealings within the assassination, are more than ample reasons as to why Hoover is likely very complicit in the assassination.Marrs also lays down the fact that many witnesses were in fact intimidated by the authorities into going with the official narrative. Regarding this, the author soberingly notes:“Witnesses Charles Givens, James Tague, Phil Willis, Kennedy aides Kenneth O’Donnel and David Powers, and former senator Ralph Yarborough were pressured to alter their statements, while others – including Ed Hoffman, A.J. Millican, Sandy Speaker, Acquilla Clemons, and Richard Carr – were threatened into silence.”[2]Predictably, the mainstream media – being part of the establishment – didn’t even bother in examining their testimony, nor anything else that might blow the lid on the cover up. Then again, being the official mouthpiece of the establishment, this is par for the course.Of course, the author also homes in on many of the interests that revolved around the assassination from Big Oil, to the Big Banks, the Mob, the Cubans, FBI, CIA, and more.How Jack Ruby’s role plays out around this conspiracy is also given more than a fair glance by Marrs. Interestingly, Jack Ruby dying of cancer dovetails with information from Dr. Mary’s Monkey – How The Unsolved Murder Of A Doctor, A Secret Laboratory In New Oreleans and Cancer-Causing Monkey Viruses Are Linked To Lee Harvey Assassination And Emerging Global Epidemics by Edward T. Haslam. I read the first edition when it first came out. It is well-written, so much so that it could also be used as a reference book. As you may already know, Oliver Stone used it as a reference, along with Jim Garrison's ON THE TRAIL OF THE ASSASSINS for his film, JFK. The 2nd edition also fills in where the 1st left off, including the Assassination Review Board results and aftermath. His conclusions (they are my own also) STILL hold up even after MANY in the mainstream media still tout Lee Oswald as the "lone-nut assassin". If you are not sure, this is a very objective book to draw your own conclusions.

I passed the exam at 1st try with this book two weeks ago. This book is definitely very useful, I did not get time to take mock final exam, but I complete rest chapter with above 70% passing score. My final exam is above target. I would say if you can pass most of the exams here, you would pass PMP. Questions are very similar. Calculation problem is much less than my expected in the real PMP exam.

Took the PMP exam this morning and got AT on all sections. I used this book along with a another study guide. After going through 4 different sources for practice questions, these questions are the closest to the actual exams. Some of these are harder than the actual test. The explanations are like a mini study guide, very detail. The questions are mostly scenarios to choose the "best", "most", "first", etc..Overall I was able to learn how the questions on the exam was worded and how to select best answer. Knowing the question format is a key to passing. If you are not familiar with the format, would be like trying to run with learning how to walk. This is a must have.

Pretty good questions. I feel like they represent the material well, and seem to be on par with questions from other legit sources.Typesetting in this book could be improved. More annoying than a functional concern.First chapter has repeating questions.Chapter 5 or 6, the question numbering is off. Starts at 2,for 32 questions. Answers start at 1 for 32 questions in the chapter. So question 2s answer is numbered as 1 in the key. Question 3s answer is numbered as 2. Pattern progresses all the way to question 27. There are 2 question 27s. Which is where the questions and keys sync up properly.These things are all a matter of better editing and typesetting needed. Otherwise, this book is recommended.

I purchased this book as a prep tool before taking my boot camp class and ultimately taking my PMP exam. I found the book to be very challenging and it was instrumental in passing my PMP the first time. I went through all questions in the book 2-3 times each. It gives great reasons why an answer is what it is. I would recommend this to anyone taking their PMP. Passed today w/above target rating.

Overall it is an OK book but I found some errors. I took the 200 question mock exam and it marked me wrong on a few questions but the description says my answer is correct. They put the wrong multiple choice letter as the correct answer. I probably would have picked a different book based on this. I am not sure how accurate this is now.

I'll admit that I was skeptical at first because of the great price for this book but I found it extremely helpful. The practice questions really prepared me for the exam. I previously spent much more on a book that resulted in me failing at my first attempt at the PMP exam. After purchasing this book and going through all the exercises, I knew and I felt prepared to take the test. I took the test and easily passed. I would certainly recommend this book.

I have the greatest respect for Saint Gregory of Nazianzus. I wish every educated Christian could read his writings. His complete works about to 45 orations, a few hundred letters and a collection of poetry.This volume contains translations of 19 orations. Vinson avoids overlap with the translations in the Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers collection by Schaff and Wace so many of the orations in this volume haven't been translated into English before. I wouldn't consider these orations to be Gregory's best. You can't beat the 5 Theological Orations, or the Encomium on Basil or the Oration on Baptism but they have a place in filling out his thought. For me the best orations in this collection are the Apology to his Father (Oration 9), In Praise of the Maccabees (Oration 15) and On the Holy Martyrs and Against the Arians (Oration 35).The introduction is brief but informative. As there is a great biography of Gregory of Nazianzus by John McGuckin you can look there for more.

Vinson's translation is smooth, accessible, accurate and consistent. This text is excellent for English speakers of any level of expertise interested in Gregory either confessionally or academically.

This story fascinated me to the point I wanted to tell all those around me as soon as I read it all the facts! I love history, I always have, and this is gruesome sad part but it eventually saved others lives. It's about the women who painted radium on to watch dials to make them glow and they eventually died due to radium poisoning. There's been several books about their contributions to science before but never telling their story and how strong they had to be. So many women died due to carelessness and capitalism because women's lives didn't matter when those watches were making money. It was for profit murder for many years and the companies didn't even want to clean up their own messes. The town in Illinois were still having to clean up radium and radioactive material as early as 2015, the story starts in 1917 and it took forever for the women to get the help they deserved. It was eye opening. I also liked how the story was written, all true but as a fiction set up making it so easy and good to read. I loved it.

In the early twentieth century one of the best jobs young girls and women in America could have involved something exciting and brand new: radium. Sparkling, glowing, and beautiful, radium was also, according to the companies that employed these young women, completely harmless. A century later the truth about radium and its assorted isotopes is all too well known. In The Radium Girls Kate Moore tells the story of these young women, seemingly so fortunate, who were poisoned by the jobs they felt so lucky to have.Radium was widely heralded as a wondrous new substance after it was first isolated by the Curies. It appeared to have an infinite number of uses, one of the first of which was to make the numbers on clocks and watches easier to see. Workers were needed to coat the dials with radium paint, and the best and most efficient workers were women and girls, some as young as 14 or 15. The work was pleasant and sociable: the women sat around tables painting, moistening the thin brushes in their mouths before they dipped them into the paint, chatting, eating, and drinking while they worked, sometimes taking extra paint home with them to practice with, sometimes painting their teeth, faces, hair, and clothing to make them sparkly. When they left the studio their clothing would be covered with radium dust, and would glow ghost-like in the night. The pay was good and the work was easy, but then some of the women started having strange pains in their mouths and bones. Their teeth would loosen and fall out and their jaws, legs, and ankles would develop permanent aches or even crumble.After some of the women died and more became ill the companies making large profits on radium rushed to dismiss any hint that the work was unsafe. Victims and their families sought relief and assistance, but found they were responsible for their own mounting medical bills. The federal, state, and local governments all disavowed any responsibility. Eventually publicity stemming from lawsuits filed by some of the victims (using their own scanty resources) focused enough attention on the problem that governments felt compelled to set safety standards and regulations.The Radium Girls is a horrifying read. The careless ways in which radium was handled, the indifference of the radium using industries and the governments involved to the safety of the women painters (in contrast to the men who worked to produce the radium, who were protected by lead shields), and the pain and suffering of the women themselves are appalling. The safety regulations and restrictions which were finally put into place hardly seem adequate, and the Epilogue and Postscript giving details of the women's later lives, as well as an account of another industry that made careless use of radium as late as the 1970s, are especially harrowing.This is a well written, meticulously research and documented, account of tragedies that never should have been. The radium girls' lives can't be returned to them, but thanks to Kate Moore we can remember, and learn, from their pain.

This is one these books that will stay with you long after you finished reading it. The suffering, the indifference, the greed, the lies, the audacity... 90 years later it is still easy to imagine it happening over and over again.

One of the best books I have read in a long time! Telling the story of the Radium Girls from the standpoint of the girls/women who were victimized by corporate greed and their battle for their rights was wonderful. Kate Moore brought these brave women to light in a brilliant manner. I had trouble putting this book down and highly recommend it.

I just got through reading Radium Girls based the the true story of the girls and women employed to paint watch dials in the early twentieth century with an exciting and new product, radium. Radium sparkled, glowed, and was thought to be good for your health. It was heralded as the worlds newest wonder!! One of the uses was to make watches and clocks easier to see because the radium made the dial light up in the dark. Girls as young as 14 were recruited to join in on the exciting new job opportunity. Girls and young women sat in rows with trays of watch dials with a crucible of radium. They were taught to moisten thin brushes in their mouthes before they dipped them into the paint. They even ate at their work benches. The radium dust would cover the workers and as they walked home at night the girls would actually GLOW. Every girl wanted in on the work as it was good pay and radium was said to be good for your health. Little did they know that the work they were doing was eventually going to lead to their own demise.This book is excellent and gives amazing historical background pertaining to the inauguration of workers compensation, liability, and medical advancements. It is definitely a very emotional charged book. I would highly recommend this book.

If only the women were shown this level of respect in their lifetimes. Their story shines from the pages and is horrifyingly relevant to today. We owe these ladies an enormous debt and it our duty to see it is repaid by never allowing it to be repeated.

The strength of this book is the low number of errors, compactness of its presentation, pedagogy, collection of exercises, emphasis of fundamentals, and careful calculation. Rarely is the reader left, unaided and unguided, to fill in gaping holes in logic. It is somewhat slow to work through the dense presentation. Also, the book treats some rather advanced topics (e.g., Matsubara sums, Feynman diagrams, etc.) with the same compactness. I had trouble understanding what the book was trying to communicate while taking a course. However, on revisiting the material after I'd finished the course, I realized the presentation was quite clear, and it was just my extremely-stressed state that was causing me to misinterpret the material.I should also say the extremely-ambitious course I took out of this book tried to cover almost the entire book, _and_ I was underqualified to take the course (I was concurrently taking only my first semester of introductory solid state physics). The book does say it is designed for a 2-semester course, not 1! It should be a statement about the book's clarity that the course wasn't a complete disaster for me...indeed, studying under such an ambitious instructor in such an unprepared state could have been a perfect-storm of a disaster!

This is a very good textbook for beginners to learn many body theory. The 2016 edition has corrected a lot of misprints.

Very condensed and easy to read, probably not a beginners book.

A little bit broken ridge

In its third edition it still contains an unacceptable amount of syntactical and grammatical errors, missing words, wrong formulas and nebulous explanations. For example, the 6th chapter explains linear response theory crystal clear, but the accompanying derivations of the conductivity and conductance formulae are erroneous and do not follow the recipe of linear response theory, which is extremely unpedagogical. Moreover, the book lacks rigour: When one wants to rederive some formulae it can happen that one gets stuck because the authors missed to provide proper definitions.In conclusion, the book by Bruus and Flensberg introduces some concepts in a very clear and pedagogical manner. Other than that the book has some serious faults. The reader has to devote more time to clearing up the mathematics than to understand the physics.

This book is exactly what a new student (with some training in basic grad courses in solid state, statistical mechanics, etc.) needs to grasp condensed matter physics without a "research-based bias." Todays programs are so focused on application that a thorough treatment of pedigogical materials get superfically taught. Philip Anderson warns about this in his timeless classic "Basic Notions." This book uses QFT in canonical picture (bootstraps), no mention of path integrals. I started out in HEP, so I got trained fairly well in path integrals, some may find this a barrier with the book. Luttinger theory is the most modern topic touched on, applications to materials science. I recommend Wen's book if you want to look at Quantum Hall Effects and Topological Orders (post 1980's).

I used this book for my master's project on superconductivity. It gave me a solid basis on many-body theory.

This book offers a fairly decent, thorough treatment of solid state theory, while still being somewhat approachable. However, this book is not for the inexperienced. You should expect to spend lots of time looking up things in more introductory books.

This book will build you up to using heavier weights fairly quickly. I have followed "body for life" alternatively which by comparison focuses on more sets for fat-burning; abs diet focuses on fewer heavier sets which won't necessarily burn more calories but it does build me up faster. The big advantage of this abs-diet book is the meals. I would like to point out my favorites are the Turkey Chili recipe which takes cheap ground turkey and makes it taste like a buttery chili. I personally hate the taste of ground turkey, but this recipe literally transforms it into tasting like normal chili. Which is great because ground turkey is cheap and supposedly a healthier meat than fatty ground beef. The other recipe is the Peanut Butter smoothie which I used with Chocolate protein powder and Irish slow-cooked oatmeal. That was the best daily protein shake I'd every had and I never got tired of drinking it.I purchased the Kindle version of this book which I originally read on my iPad some 5 years ago. It is actually formatted very nicely for the iPad. Today I refer to the recipes in the book using the Kindle App for iPhoneX. The iPhoneX screen is large enough that I can clearly see the recipes in the book when cooking in the kitchen. This book is a great resource for anyone looking to 'get back on track' with their diet and exercise lifestyle. I highly recommend it!

While I was working on my Masters in Counseling I learned the phrase "It's not what you say but how you say it" and I think this book is a prime example of helping others make changes by saying it right, and backing it up with scientific proof.As a weight loss coach myself I know that there has to be verbal keys that unlock whatever is holding someone back from making the changes they need to in their life to be healthy...but sometimes explanations fall on deaf ears that aren't ready for change. However, this book changed ME and how I help others. It is packed with proof, guidance, whys and hows and I can't imagine it not making a change for any reader.I agree with the review that says don't get this in the Audio version. I have both a hard copy and a Kindle edition--the Kindle edition worked find but I prefer the hard copy because you do want to flip back and forth to the food groupings (you'll see what I mean when you read it) However, you can also do this by simply saving certain pages on your Kindle.I recommend this book over the woman's edition...not enough changes in that one and this is just concise and clear.I still limit caloric intake but if you pair that up with the way of eating that the abs diet goes into, you don't hit plateaus and your body works as a well-oiled machine to give you more energy and utilize fat stores for energy when you limit your caloric intake.This is the healthiest way of getting fit and, ironically, a fast way to do it as well. It's not a good read you put down, for me it was a lifestyle change. Oddly, it had other effects aside from just healthy weight loss with no plateaus...my face has broken out since I was a teenager and I'm now 43. After just a few weeks of this style of eating I had flawless skin. When I moved into a new house and had no time to eat right, my old issues of lowered energy, skin breakouts etc. came back...as they have everytime since then that I've gone off track. I rarely do go off track, however...there just is not need to. This provides for excellent meals and healthy living for LIFE rather than just a short term interim diet.Negatives: Easy to overeat if you forget to consider your calorie consumption as well. As long as you don't overdo the calories, this combo of foods is a great way to lose weight but he doesn't quite stress that calories in vs calories out is still the only way to lose weight best. In fast the largest weight loss study in the world was recently completed by the New England Journal of Medicine...took 8 years and thousands of people but proved calorie deficit is still the best way to lose weight, not limiting carbs etc as once thought. Old school thought is now accepted as medical science...if you take in less calories than you burn, your body uses fat to function and you lose weight BUT if you do that with these foods, you increase your burn, especially in your core. That too, has been proven.Highly recommend.

I am very pleased with the results so far and it's been less than 2 weeks. Although I am not yet noticing a difference in my clothes, my scale says otherwise. And the food part is soooo easy to do. Just returned from 4 days camping and I took plenty of snacks with me, so staying on the regimen was easy to do.I cannot wait to see the results 4 weeks from now!To the author--Thank you so much for writing this book! It really does seem to be working.

a friend of mine lost 50 pounds using this. I lost 30. I can clearly say this is a great help. It explains not only WHAT decisions to make about food but WHY. this is invaluable….if you know why, it automatically helps you choose better on a daily basis. this is not really a diet but a way to understand how your body processes food and burns fat and how to live a healthier life. How to eat right, good nutrition. With the help of this book I lost 30 pounds and did not really have to go into a big exercise program or anything. SURE that helps and you will lose FASTER and they encourage that, but over time if you follow this book you will lose weight and be healthier even if you don't do that.

Very informative. Just a few days following the program I felt so much better. Lots more energy and always feel satisfied. Even with a very busy schedule and not a lot of time to prepare food this plan is very easy to incorporate and adapt to. Husband and the lil ones love the food and we all love the smoothies. Never feel deprived when it comes to sweets because the smoothies are so delicious. Plus we seem to be spending less money on groceries even though we're eating more times a day than before. I also have the book cook this and not that by the same author that has very tasty meals and doesnt take a lot of time to prepare. Looking forward to getting the abs diet cookbook also.
