This book is a hit with my 6month old! Colorful, sturdy, and I didn't expect all the fun extras! There are tabs you pull to make mermaid tails move, seahorses move, etc. and there are sticky and soft spots and textured areas...baby girl loves to touch it all! Very cute book!
As another reviewer said, my 4-year-old daughter also wanted this book after reading the fairies book by this author. She loves this one just as much. Beautiful artwork, cute story. My daughter loves the moving parts, the different textures, and the beautiful colors. Just beware if trying to buy the book at a lower price from another seller. I went for the highest-priced seller on the "new books" list, and the book obviously was NOT new, as it was missing a couple key moving parts. I did not have time to try for an exchange since it was close to Christmas. As a review of the product itself, I highly recommend the book.UPDATE: The seller contacted me. Though it was AFTER Christmas already, the seller did apologize for the mistake in sending a damaged book, and the seller sent me a new, undamaged book free of charge. It arrived within a few days. Not ideal, but I did appreciate the effort by the seller to amend his mistake.
I love the Matthew Van Fleet books. Alien Opposites and Tails are two of our favorites. That being said I was hoping for the same caliber and while it's a really great book it's not quite there.There are several places where kids can pull or push and make movement, some good textures and beautiful artwork.I love the counting part of this book and the story is very simple, which is great for younger kids. And there aren't enough books about mermaids in my opinion.However I thought the sticky part was weird (and some sort of disgusting mess just waiting to happen) and wondered why the part with the snails smelling isn't scratch and sniff.Overall this book is worth buying, especially if you have very hands on kiddos who love to touch and move!
So friggin cute! And really nice quality too. I didn't know it was an interactive book with little tabs to pull and move around. That was a nice little surprise! This book is just all around a great buy, I'll add pics later to show you what I mean.
I got this as a present for my niece who just loves princess everything and it is SUCH a good quality book. I didn't even know that it was a pop up book! It is thick and made of quality materials and the colors in it are just amazing! I recommend this for every little girls library. I will be buying my daughter this as well when she's old enough (she's only 2 months old).
This book is soooooo cute!!! So much interaction and the pages are super thick and tough!Update: LOVE this book. I have now purchased it 3 times!!! Once for my daughter and two more times for gifts!!
I bought this book for my three year old daughter and after a week she still thanks me for her beautiful book.It is sturdy, though my daughter is very delicate with books so hasn't gotten too much hard use.
Charming little interactive numbers book for wee folk. Each page has interactive features, some of which are discrete so little ones can have the joy of discovery (for example, the "furry seals" have texture on their bodies). It's a sturdy book which looks like it will stand up well to toddler book abuse; it does have strong pull tabs & fold outs but these features naturally need a bit more restraint during repeated use. I'd have given it 5 stars if the text poetry had flowed a little more naturally but overall an excellent book that I'm happy to have purchased. The young lady for whom it was purchased was delighted with it (she's 2).
